Rudy Begonia's Belcher Soda
Rudy’s story
Hi, my name’s Rudy, well, actually it's Rudy Begonia. Yeah, I know it’s a funny last name, but that’s me! My little sister, Jessica, wanted to change our name because it looks like “bologna,” but we all voted, and she lost three to one.
You’re probably wondering why in the world I have a soda named after me. I’d like to say it’s a simple story, but that wouldn’t be telling the truth…
See, growing up in Denver, Colorado, my family and I got to do lots of cool stuff. In the winters we’d go up in the mountains and snowboard, snowmobile, snowshoe. Lots of snow things. In fact, we’re all pretty good at making it down the hill in no time at all.
In the summers, though, there isn’t any snow, so we had to do other things. I played some sports, but found out that I really liked skating, and I know of some great skate parks. My friends and I all like to skate together, so they text me to set up times and meeting places.
At the end of the summer, me and my friends like to go to the state fair because they have all sorts of contests for us to enter. Well, this year I saw a poster with all the events ?
One of the strange ones caught my eye, it was ? “Denver’s 1st annual longest belch competition” ? with a first prize of $500 wow! Once we saw the poster, we couldn’t resist entering.
Last year, for my science project, I decided to figure out which soda would create the best burps, I don’t know why I picked it, but it sounded like fun. I tried ‘em all, and even had help from my sis Jessica, mom, and dad too.
One day my sister and I were talking and we wondered if we could change the soda to make the burps last longer. My little sis is pretty smart, and working on it together we discovered a secret formula that could make bigger, longer and louder burps.
We discovered that the best tasting, and sounding burps came from the best tasting sodas with our special formula, of course. With my special soda in hand, I entered the contest.
In the end, it was no contest. I won hands down and everyone wanted to know how I did it. I wouldn’t tell them exactly, but I did say that it had to do with a special soda that I made at home with the help of my parents.
Everyone wanted to try it, and I happened to have some extra soda that my parents brought along. I let everyone try a chug and before they knew it, they were burping louder than me! They even said it was the best tasting soda around and wanted to know where they could get more. So with the help of my mom, dad and my smart sister Jessica, I started Belcher Soda.
